Post 8: Evaluating 2013

This year had good things but bad things to. I’m talking about the pass because there are a month left now and there’s not going to happen anything new, I’m very sure of that.

I think it was most of all, a boring and stressed year because I worked a lot and I didn't had time to rest and do the things I love.

I started to do too many activities and on June I was exhausting. So after that I tried to spend more time in my hobbies and I decided to focus in my classes and in one internship only.  So I had to quit the others activities that I was doing, like classes of different things, projects and the job I had like a waitress, and now I don’t had money but I’m fine.

About my achievements, it was a very good year because I did internships in different places, which helps me to get experience and to find a future job. I also made a lot of contacts to future projects and I started to define my future personal projects about what I’m going to study next and where I want to travel and work.  I’m very excited about this.

I think it wasn't a very good year because I didn't have enough time to do the things that I really love, but that’s because I’m still studying this career and I don’t like it very much, so I hope the next year get better and I’m very sure it will be because I'll start working in my thesis and looking for some masters and a job. It has to be better because it can be worse than this year.

Post 8: Food and eating habits

Personal eating habits

The eating habits are definitely one of the most important things in my life because I’m vegetarian so I have to eat very well and varied to get all the minerals and proteins that my body needs. If I don’t eat well on a couple of days, I start to feel weak immediately. The principal problem of this is that I have to cook all days different and elaborated things, and they are delicious! But it takes much time to do it.

I think that most of the food of our this time is not healthy, like fast food, candies and soda, and of course, this shouldn't be sold to children and shouldn't be sold as they were normal or nutritional. I do read the nutritional information of the things I eat because I want to know which are the ingredients that they have. But I don’t eat much packaged food, so I don’t have to do this all the time.

Favourites

I love food made with vegetables but not salad. I mean quiches, creams, lasagna, and things like that. And I also love cakes and sweet things, and I know they are not very healthy but I don’t feel sick when I eat it, in fact, I feel very good. And I think if you feel fine eating something it’s mean that it’s good for you to eat it.

Experience

I prefer to eat at home, to cook something delicious and elaborated to eat with people, not alone. It’s much cheaper that eating at a restaurant and the food could be better to. And also, I love cooking. I have never left a restaurant without paying but I’m always kidding with that before asking for the check.
This is one of the breakfast I made once with my boyfriend,
we love sweet things and coffee.

Post 7: My childhood days

Beginning
My earliest memory is being rest in my parent’s bed being a baby, with my older brother taking care of me. I was one year old and a half and my brother were three.

Free time
I used to play with my brother and my parents because we lived far of everything but this wasn’t a problem.  We used to play outside when we could but more than playing my dad used to take us to the field to walk and explore the nature like scouts, and I used to help my mom in the greenhouse to. My house was in the factory where my dad worked so we used to go to his office to see him and play there or we walked around the factory with huge helmet and boots, it was very fun.

This was my house. I am the little girl on the left
and the other persons are my mom and my brother playing.
First Experience
I was five years old when I learned to ride my first bike. My dad was the person who teaches me all the “adventures” things and I appreciate very much his worry in this kind of thing.

School
I got always bored in school, since I was five until I was eighteen. I started studying when I was sixteen and it was for the PSU, before that I was a terrible student and I never did a homework until that age.

Conclusion
I remember my childhood like the best part of my life, but only the first three years of it, when I lived in the field. It was the best childhood ever but when we came to Santiago and I went to school it changes a lot and it got boring

Post 6: How green are you?

In my city you can notice a collective conscience about the environment that is emerging, because the common people are starting to be participative in things related to the environment by incorporating green practices such as recycling to their life style and by using the bike instead of the car.

There are a lot of places to recycle in Santiago but they are not enough yet and the people doesn’t know about them and these places are far from the center of the city so there are not enough facilities yet. The same with the bikes, there are many people wanting to change the public transport or the car by the bike but in our country there are not good and safe roads specially for bikes.

Personally, I love all the things related to the environment, I love to grow plants in home and I love the orchards and greenhouses (glasshouse).  I don’t like living in this city because I used to live in a field and my mom had a greenhouse and close to us there were a lot of animals, and I think that’s the perfect life to me so I want to have that again or at least to live in a house in the city in a similar way, with a garden large enough to build a greenhouse and keep my pets happy.  So, I think I am very green.

In home we recycle every day plastic bottles, glass, and newspaper, and we are planning to do compost soon but we haven’t built the container yet. Also, we have an orchard because we are worried about transgenic and the danger to the environment that they may cause. It’s very nice to grow vegetables ar home and it is not necessary to have a big space because you can have plant pots with vegetables inside the house too (I have thousands of them in all the rooms).

A greenhouse of suculents, I love them too.

Post 5: Video Games

I don’t use computers to play video games. I have played computers games but a lot of years ago. I used to play a game called Rayman and another called The Sims, basically. Both were very cool, specially the second one, Sims, because it was about building houses. The boring thing it was that you were a person in the game and you had to do all things that we do in our normal life, like study to have a good job, and then work a lot to have enough money to build a cool house. The good thing was that there were some secret codes to get money instantaneously.

I would like to play Sims again but I know I will be obsessed very soon and I will use all my time in that. So, I prefer not to do that for now.

I think video games are very far of being something productive. It doesn’t help in anything to the person that plays, it’s addictive and it doesn’t relax because most of them are stage games and provoke stress and you can stay a lot of hours in front of the computer obsessed with passing the levels.

I think the people that plays video game (I mean, those who spends most of their free time in that activity) can’t be healthy. Being in front of a screen more than an hour is bad for your vision and your brain doesn’t rest. You need a recreational activity that makes you move your body a little bit.

Personally, I try not to use my computer very much.  I get fun with it but I use it to work mostly, and I know it’s very useful but I try not to do all my like through the computer.

Post 4: Rewilding Europe

Jessica Aldred, Eric Hilaire, Paddy Allen, photographs from Rewilding Europe

theguardian.com, Tuesday 15 October 2013 12.10 BST

This article is about a project of WWF and others organizations of reincorporate some animals to their originals habitat in some parts of Europe, called “Rewilding Europe”, and its objective is to give back some balance to the planet and allow the natural progress that in our context it’s always stopped or interrupted by the man.

This project plans to incorporate species to ten different habitats, in a total area of 1000 hectares and five of those habitats are already incorporating the species.  The article announced the area number six, which is The Central Apennines in Italy, and the other four areas are unknowns yet.

The areas in which the project is already working are Spain and Portugal, Italy, Croatia, Slovakia and Poland, the west side of Romania, and finally, its east side.  And all the areas chosen are important and large natural places, with a lot of biodiversity and without human intervention except for the hunting.

Another reason to returns these animals to their original habitat is because some of them are disappearing very fast in a short time, and taking them back to their habitat it means the decreased of the threat of an unnatural habitat and the decrease of the human’s  damage, and produce the restart of the normal reproduction of the species too.  And with the objective of keeping the species reintroduced, the hunting, a very common recreational activity done in all of the European forests, it’s going to be reduced for the moment and maybe in a future, finally abolished.

Post 1: My ideal job

I want to work in a lot of different stuff after I finish the university. In fact, I would like to have three parallel jobs.

First than anything, I want to continue the work that I’m already doing as an internships applicant in the book restoration laboratory of the National Library. I hope I could work in this library in the future because it’s a very relaxing work and I really like it, but you have to be very careful and patient (I am), so there are not many people who do this work.

Also, I like cooking cakes, cookies, brownies and bread, so I would like to cook in my free time and sell these things to coffee shops and bakeries, which is a very possible thing to do but it’s a lot of work and dedication so I will think about this in a few years and not now.

The third job is as a volunteer in a rescue center for wild animals close to Santiago. This one is the most complicated because you have to work for free or the pay is very little, so it’s a very nice thing to do for free but it’s very utopic too.

Post 3: Japanese Animation

Anime is the japanese animation of TV series and movies. When I was a child I used to watch a lot of Anime series like Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Saint Seya and Ranma 1/2. These were my favorites but I was very young so I don't remember them very well. I used to like them because anime is more realistic than other cartoons and the stories were more dramatic. Also, the drawings are more detailed and when I was a child I used to love the faces of the characters, specially their big eyes.

The first anime serie that I saw was Saint Seya and then Dragon Ball. I used to love Dragon Ball because they lived in a parallel universe and they had so many wonderful stuff like supernatural abilities and life after death. Another anime serie that I used to like very much was Detective Conan and it had something not very common in the story too because Conan was an adult whose body was turned into a child's body with a drug or a poison.

But a few years later I stopped watching TV and I stopped being interested in the TV series, so I never watched anime again. So, the anime didn’t influence my life and it didn’t make me interested in other areas of the Japanese culture either because it's not a culture that I specially love, but the anime is part of my childhood anyway.

Post 2: A country I'd like to visit

I would like to visit Peru because of its jungle. There are a lot of rescue centers for wild animals and specialized centers dedicated to the reforesting of the native plants. These centers are in the middle of the jungle and nobody can arrive without a guide (and a car) and there is no electricity or any comfortable stuff of our modern life.

I love nature and animals so I would like to work in some of those centers for a couple of months. These centers are focused in the rescue of wild animals that are hurt because of man fault, or wild animals that were pets before. The people that work in the centers introduce them in this closed habitat in the middle of the jungle litlle by little so that they can get used to wild life in their natural habitat and then they set them free. It’s not like a zoo because the center is supposed to be a big open spaced where the animals live in happiness and peace and they get free when they are healthy.

Post 5: A social website

FACEBOOK

More than a social website to me, it's the place where all the news that I care are together and I have to take only fifteen minutes to be well informed about things that happen everyday. It's very useful that you can add the pages that you like and see the actualizations all together, I use that with the news because the national news in the TV and the newspapers give us fake information sometime, and doesn't talk about the things I care. And I am all day out of home and I arrive very late so it's very useful to me see everything together in the same place, so every night I visit this website.

Also, I use facebook to searching new places to eat and drink in my city, so I have a "interests list" called "comida" :)

Post 4: The last movie I saw

THE SHINING

The last movie I saw was The Shinning and I saw it yesterday on my boyfriend's house.

The movie it's directed by Stanley Kubrick, and it's about a guy (Jack Nicholson) who has to take care of a closed isolated hotel during all the winter without any human contact except for his wife and son.

Before him there was an other guy taking care of the hotel with his family like him, and he got crazy and killed them on a dramatic way, and then he killed him self. He don't care this story because he need the work, but once he arrive to the hotel and stay alone with his family, he starts to convince himself that his son and wife are against him and he try to kill them just like the other guy did.

It's a really good movie, I loved the parts that show how the first story it's repeating in the new one like when the son of this guy see the daughters killed of the first family, and the blood falling down of the elevator.. It's sound terrible but those are very good scenes. I like the acting of the kid too and the shots.

Post 3: Favourite piece of technology

I don't have a favourite piece of technology because I don't use technology very much. I mean, I use the common things that every person uses, but I don't even watch TV and I don't feel that I need very much the computer I have.

The piece of technology that I use more often is an iphone. The most of the time I hate it and I wish I had the candybar that I used to have (wich died and when I went to buy an other one they offer me the iphone very cheap). When people have smartphones they are watching those cellphones all day and they publish all their lifes in photos on instagram and facebook. I hate that but I have to say that I do have instagram and I love it :(

But a possitive side of having an smartphone is that you can see your email in every moment and that's very necesary to me because of my work and my classes. And is much easier and fun to use flickr, tumblr and all of those apps in the iphone. So, if I wouldn't have it, it wouldn't be terrible. In fact, it's very possible that I would be happier because I would have much more time to read books in my free times.

Post 1: Hi!

My name is Rosario, I grew up in Chiloé, an island in the south of Chili, very beautiful and peaceful. I always think that I had the best childhood ever because I used to live in the field with a lot of animals and nature, so when my family decided to come to Santiago because of the studies of my brother and mine, I was very shocked and depressed (I was 4).
But I keep going every year and I think it's the most beautiful place in the world, and I love the food and the sheeps.

I am vegetarian but I don't like to say it very much because it's something very personal to me. I also have a dog and a cat whose name is Milca because of a tipical meal of Chiloé that's called Milcao (I really love food and I'm not very good with the names).

About my hobbies, I like the analogue photography and I collect cameras. I also like reading and running but I'm not a very sports person, but that helps me not to be stressed and makes me happy. An other hobbie may be going to concerts. I'm the kind of person that when a singer at the end of a concert ask to the public if they wants an other song, I’m begging to the concert ends to go home and rest. But I keep going to concerts because thats makes me happy anyway, I like music, and I always think that keeps me young. The most important hobbie I have is eating. Pizza is something that I really love and I could eat everyday of my life and I try to do that.

About the other things about me, I live in Santiago with all of my family but I hope I start living on my own soon. I study History of Art and I would like to work in museums, specifically in the conservation of the collections of art objects. I would like to keep studying in France, Spain or Italy in a few years, because in those countries there are more possibilities of work in that. I'm really concern about my future because most of the time I think I will never have a real job.

That’s all. Here is a picture of my house in Chiloé. The boy of the right is my brother, the pretty woman is my mom and the little girl is me.

Post 2: A memorable concert

This is not the most memorable concert I have ever seen but it was a concert of one of my favorites bands. They are Kings of Convenience. They came to Chile the last year and I went with a friend. The concert was very good, they played very good and everything was perfect but after they played there was a party in the same place and they were there to. I have never being a groupie but they were there and all the people were watching them and taking pictures so I decided to go over there and try to say hi or something, as all the people were doing. So I went over there and I say hi with my hand to the vocalist, Erlend Oye, smiling at the same time (it was a groupie smile). I was very close, there was two meters between us so I could see his answer: he looked me back with a expression of boring (or hate) in his face and turn his face to an other side. He said something to his partner and they smiled on a sarcastic way. I took that very personal so that's how my love to that band ended there. I still like them anyway but I will never be a groupie again.

Here is a video of one of my favorites songs, their music is very nice (but they are not).
